We are currently hiring for 2018 Summer Reading Buddies Site Supervisors.
Primary Function: The Reading Buddies Site Supervisor will assist Raising Readers in Story County (RRSC) and the Program Coordinator to achieve the goals of school readiness and reading proficiency for kindergarten through third grade students, including maintaining students who are at a proficient level. Site Supervisor positions run Mid-May through the end of July.
- The Site Supervisors will oversee all volunteer tutors (at 1-2 sites) and serve as a resource
- The Site Supervisors will develop lesson plans for each child at their sites based on the child’s interest and abilities
- The Site Supervisor is responsible for helping train tutors on Words Their Way curriculum
- The Site Supervisor will effectively communicate with parents of participants for the duration of Reading Buddies
Summer Reading Buddies is a community-based intervention program for elementary school age students who are reading below grade level. It is offered during the summer, at no charge to families. RRSC recruits volunteer tutors who receive training on how to use Words Their Way, a curriculum shown to be effective with struggling readers. Each site supervisor would be on site twice a week at each of their tutoring locations as well as weekly lesson planning time for each student at their sites.
