Step Into Storybooks Events

The fifth annual Step Into Storybooks event will be April 27, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ames Middle School

The 2013 theme is "Feelings." Activities to explore social-emotional development through books are designed especially for babies to 5-year-old children, and it will be fun for the whole family. It is a free event, and Ames Morning Rotary will give each family a feelings-related children's book to take home.  Co-sponsors are Ames Morning Rotary Club, Rotary District 6000, Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Ames Public Library, and Raising Readers in Story County.

The Ames Morning Rotary Club, as a main sponsor, annually posts albums of Step Into Storybook photos on its website.

The fourth annual Step Into Storybooks event was April 28, 2012, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ames High School. The theme was "Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds." Click here for photos of 2012 Step Into Storybooks. Click here for a short video.

The third annual Step Into Storybooks event was April 30, 2011, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ames High School. The theme was "Exploring Math Through Books."  Click here for photos of 2011 Step Into Storybooks.

The second annual Step Into Storybooks event was held on May 1, 2010.  The interactive stations and the featured children's books were based on a farm theme. The first Step Into Storybooks event was held on May 2, 2009. The interactive stations featured favorite children's books and outside there was a display of city vehicles. The event was initiated and sponsored by Ames Morning Rotary with financial help from a Rotary District 6000 matching grant. Click here for photos of 2009 Step Into Storybooks. (Link under repair - November 2012)
