2020 Annual Appeal
November 20, 2020
This past fiscal year, Raising Readers in Story County has reached 24,750 children and caregivers through 11 literacy programs. Thanks to the support of many in communities across Story County, our mission comes alive. We are asking for your financial contribution to grow our programs with equity and access at the forefront.
When our children thrive, everyone in our communities benefit.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, we had to rethink the delivery of our programs. Thoughtful and tireless work by our staff allowed for a successful transition to online delivery for our 2020 Harrison Barnes Reading Academy Summer Reading buddies.
We were able to reach more students, recruit more volunteers, and provide support for the students when they needed it most.
Virtual delivery supports families who may have difficulty with transportation and scheduling, while still engaging children in learning and developing their love of reading.
As we innovate and grow, we promise to continue to offer research-based literacy programs that reach children from birth to age 8. We are thankful that many in our communities believe in the promise of Raising Readers and the children of Story County.
