Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies provides FREE literacy sessions for children who are in first, second, and third grades in spring 2023. Tutors will meet with students for personalized reading sessions to help each child with their literacy skills.  These 45-minute sessions are held twice a week and supervised by the RRSC Reading Program Site Facilitator. Volunteers are expected to arrive 15 minutes early for preparation and stay approximately 15 minutes longer to complete an observation sheet for each student. 

Sessions begin the week of February 13, 2023, and run through the week of April 17, 2023.  Volunteer training occurs on the first day of the program without children present.  Sessions will not meet the week of March 13-17 due to spring break.

Open community programs meet at the Ames Public Library and Nevada Public Library.  Partner specific programs meet at ACPC/Northminster and Boys and Girls Clubs in Ames and Nevada.
