Gift Books
This innovative RRSC program distributes new and gently used books to children who likely have few books at home. RRSC collaborates with partner agencies in order to reach families with low incomes and other risk factors. These partners include Women Infants and Children (WIC) Clinics, food pantries, Early Head Start and Head Start, Backpack Buddies, and Little Free Libraries.
This program is funded in part by ASSET and grants from United Way of Story County and the Ames Morning Rotary. Consider sponsorship of this program. More information
Gently Used Books Needed:
Are you looking for a new home for books your child or grandchild have outgrown? Please considering donating your books to Raising Readers. Your donated books will be given a new home with a child who needs books to read at home. Gently used children's books are needed for infants and children through 5th grade. Donated books should be in good condition, without torn pages or writing on them. Contact us to have your book donation picked up by a Raising Readers volunteer.
Host a Book Drive Party
Plan a Raising Readers Book Drive Party for your book club, service group, office, 4H, Camp Fire, Boy Scouts, elementary classroom, sorority or fraternity holiday party. Request books, one for you and one for Raising Readers, at your baby shower or child's birthday party. Invite guests to bring a children's book or contribution to be donated to Raising Readers. Contact us for party ideas and to have your book donation picked up by a Raising Readers volunteer. Take a photograph of your book drive to be posted on the Raising Readers website. Email photos to contact@raising-readers.org.
