Playful Pages: Family Workshops

Play | Learn | Grow

Join us for story time, caregiver strategies, and collaborative activities that build language and literacy through family play! These hour-long programs are intended for 3-5 year olds and their families and are offered free of charge by Raising Readers in Story County, sponsored by Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casinos and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC). *Older children are welcome to engage with their younger siblings and an infant/toddler area is also available. 

This Playful Pages Workshop series is located at the North Grand Mall in Ames from 10:00-11:00 am on the third Saturday of each month.

Winter Workshops

January 18 | Little Laboratory: Experiment by pouring and mixing to make something new. Put on your lab coat and goggles, things are about to get messy!

February 15 | Building Bonanza: Construct structures, explore tools, and engineer a city. Build up your imagination as you discover different materials!

We are excited to announce our newest outreach offering: Playful Pages: Family Workshops! .

Building Bonanza: Construct structures, explore tools, and engineer a city. Build up your imagination as you discover different materials!

Food Fest: Explore the delicious world of food by sorting out produce, creating a menu, discovering seeds, and grocery shopping. Are you getting hungry yet?

Rain or Shine: Iowa is the king of different kinds of weather. Explore how materials act in wind, sort out what to wear, and create a weather forecast!

Dino Discoveries: Dig up some fun while building habitats, exploring fossils, and piecing together creatures from the past!

Traveling Tales: Toot Toot! All aboard to explore the ways that we get around. We will investigate what transportation to use as we take a special trip in our imaginations!

We would love to take our show on the road for your families! This workshop would be a great addition to a literacy night, parent engagement, or an extra offering.
